The 23 August is an exciting
day for York races as it holds the Darley Yorkshire Oaks and Ladies Day.
The Ebor Ladies Day is the
social highlight of the races season. You can dress to impress for the chance
to win some fabulous prizes on the Ebor Fashion Lawn. If you would like to see
the range of prizes available, follow the link here to the York Racecourse website.
I have been on the lookout for
those show-stopping dresses and winning accessories you should wear to put
yourself in for a chance of winning! You want to stand out from the crowd and
for the right reasons. Attending Ladies day at York Ebor means you need to have
that complete finished look, and I have put together a few tips to ensure you
will be onto a winner for Ladies Day.
The Dress
The most important decision is
deciding on what dress you are going to wear. It can be a dress you designed
yourself, bought for attending a wedding, or even a dress you have bought in
the sale. The most important thing is you look and feel comfortable wearing it.
The last thing you want is to be standing in a dress at the races for a whole
day and not be comfortable. Go for a
style that is a midi length or a little over the knee, after all it is Ladies Day
and we all love the feeling of being a bit glam. This style of dress should be classic,
elegant, & sophisticated. Once you have decided your dress you can work all
of the accessories around this. See some of my favourite picks below.

Shoes
YOU MUST WEAR HEELS! Not only
will it pull the outfit together and enhance your chic-ness, but also helps
when you are craning your neck to see whether your horse came in first. In
saying that you certainly do not want to prance around the races in shoes that
you can hardly walk in! It will not only
ruin your day but it will take away from dress and the judges will see this
from a mile away. Do not discount flat forms or chunkier heels with a bit of
weight in them either. They are super on-trend and will work well with
anything. A good court shoe will set off
the dress or a sling backcourt is very stylish for any dress. Choose a style that is most comfortable for
yourself and what you can manage to walk in and is not going to leave you hobbling
around the racecourse. See some of my favourite picks below.

Accessories
This is where the fun starts;
looking to set your look with a headpiece or hat. There are so many amazing brands out there to
get your headpiece from; Debenhams is one of my favourites! Make sure to bring
your dress with you when you are going to pick out your headpiece as you want
it to go with your dress/shoes. This is
all depending if you are going to wear the same colour through with your
headpiece, dress and shoes.
If your dress is busy and has
a lot going on, keep the accessories minimal. You do not want to overdo it with
too much colour, as the judges will not know where to look! A simple classic diamond earring will be just
perfect. For your bag, use a medium
sized clutch with just enough room to keep your lipstick and powder in. Again, colour and style all depends on what
you have gone with for your dress.
Tan/Makeup /Hair
Try not go overboard with your
tan or makeup, as they say less is more.
If you are applying your tan yourself make sure you have exfoliated and
moisturised your skin so it will take to it. If you are opting to get a spray
tan done we would recommend going to your regular salon and one that you have
had your tan done in before, and make sure to go two days before the races so
you don’t get that ‘orange’ look! Be
sure to book all your appointments early with your hairdressers, salons and
make-up artists so you do not get let down and left in the lurch looking for
last minute appointment.
I hope you enjoyed reading my tips for the Ebor Ladies Days and have fun getting your Ladies together for a great day out. If you’re at the York racecourse for Ebor keep your eyes peeled for me as I may see you there.
Happy Racing!
Love Ciandra x
