Summer style in Sicily

I have just returned from the best week in Catania, one of Sicily's major cities. I thought I would write a little travel style post with some tips with what to wear and bring when visiting Sicily.
Travel essentials to pack for your holiday in Sicily at any time of year

1. Footwear – flip-flops are perfect for the beach and to lounge in your apartment, however, a pair of light walking shoes will also be useful for exploring the streets or walks in the countryside. If you’re planning to go hiking, then appropriate walking boots/shoes are essential.

2. Sunscreen – even on cloudy days, the sun in Sicily can be surprisingly strong, any time of year. While a little sun exposure is good for you, stimulating the production of vitamin D, too much sun is most definitely not! I was very stupid and didn’t wear sun protection, ending up very burnt! Do not make my mistake.

3. Sun hat – preferably one with a big brim to help protect your scalp, neck and face. There are some gorgeous styles out at the moment in shops.

4. Sunglasses – sunglasses with UV filters protect your eyes and the delicate skin around your eyes from sunlight and should be worn even on cloudy days. Choose glasses with 100% UVA and UVB protection.

5. Insect repellent – I recommend taking insect repellent, those mosquitos are pesky things!

6. Round two-pin electrical adapter (to fit Italian sockets), we all need the ability to use our chargers and hairdryers!

7. Documents – passport, insurance documents and flight tickets plus your driving licence (if you are hiring a car).

Below are some of the outfits I wore during my stay, hope you find some inspiration from them!

Have you been to Sicily?
