Spring Style at the Races

Race Day season is one of my favourites - the glitz, the glamour and of course the fashion! It is the perfect opportunity to dress up and make the most of the new Spring trends. You need to be aware that there is a Race Day etiquette which combines the formal dress code and mannerisms passed down by generations of racing club society members. It is all about tradition, style and elegance. Classy and dignified defines race day style. This post will show how I dressed and accessorised for the Grand National and a few tips I have.

Headwear

You can't go to the races without wearing a showstopper hat! I was lucky enough to collaborate with the amazing millinery company called Rose and Flo. This wonderful pair of women uniquely create their hats and facinators by hand and take every detail into consideration. I love the pink floral details to this facinator, the 3D roses are just so delicately made and compliments the flowers on my dress so well. I love how it sits on my head as it frames my face perfectly.

Dress

Going to the races is the best excuse to wear the most amazing dress! I got my dress from an amazing company called Hire that Look, this is a company that gives you access to that dream outfit without the price tag to go with. You can hire high-fashion dresses with no strings attached, I think every women should have access to beautiful outfits without having to fork out millions of pounds. I hired a 4 day rental on a gorgeous Marchesa Notte Pink Floral Dress. The blush pink, 3D floral applique off the shoulder dress made me feel like a fairy-tale princess! This outfit is perfect for the races as it combines floral elegance with the perfect spring colour palette, plus it was only £149 for the experience. I paired the dress with small silver block heels to compliment my accessories and pink colour.

Accessories

It's all about the accessories at the races and they need to match your outfit to make the whole look cohesive. A small clutch or over the body bag is my go to. I opted for this floral body bag from Bessie London, the florals were the perfect addition and didn't detract from my ensemble. I kept it simple with my jewellery and wore these perfect floral drop earrings from Magique London to compliment the whole look.

Hair and Makeup

Race Day fashion is about your whole look, not just clothing and accessories. Your hair and makeup is equally important. I chose to keep my makeup simple, focusing on just one area to keep it classy. A pink smokey eye is my go to look along with a glossy nude lip to not draw attention away from the eyes. Use a light mineral powder and tinted moisturiser to get a natural glowing base. When it comes to hair, keep it soft and classy. I went for loose curls to not take away attention from my hat. Alternatively you could go for a side braid for a more contemporary look.

Hope this helps you decide what to wear for the races, it is the best opportunity to dress up!
